Occupations Some Identified Hazards
1. Spinners and Winders (Textile) Dust inhalation, poor lighting, poor posture (squatting); respiratory and musculo-skeletal dis.; eyestrain; chemical poisoning
2. Fiber and Plastic preparers Exposure to chemicals (chemical poisoning), damage to eyes; damage to respiratory system; accidental explosion and heat (burns)
3. Bleacher, Dyer, and Finisher of textiles using Chemicals Exposure to chemicals (chemical poisoning, damage to eyes, damage to respiratory system, chemical burns); accidents caused by moving machine parts; exposure to dusts
4. Tool maker, machinist, plumber, welder Exposure to extreme heat; flying sparks and hot metal objects; accidents; eye injuries; heat stress; radiation exposure
5. Installer and repairer of telephone and telegraph Exposure to variable weather conditions and road traffic hazards; exposure to dusts; slips and falling type of accidents; electrocution
6. Electrical and Electronic Fitter Dangerous work with high voltage; risk of falling; exposure to variable weather conditions and road traffic hazards.
7. Linemen and Cable jointer Dangerous work with high voltage; risk of falling; exposure to variable weather conditions and road traffic hazards
8. Sawyer and woodworking machine setter and operator Accidents (loss of limb or life, danger from unprotected moving parts), exposure to dust; sharp objects; accidents; musculoskeletal diseases; exposure to vibration.
9. Furnace and Oven workers in brick making Exposure to extreme heat; dust exposure and poor ventilation; carrying hot bricks may cause burns; respiratory disease; heat stress
10. Furnace man and kilnman in the manufacture of glass and ceramics Exposure to extreme heat; poor ventilation; cuts from broken glass; carrying hot glass (burns); respiratory disease; heat stress; exposure to toxic dust (silica, etc.); exposure to noise.
11. Brewer and Winemaker Intoxication, addiction; environment may be prejudicial to morals; risk of violence
12. Distiller of Alcoholic Beverages Intoxication, addiction; environment may be prejudicial to morals; risk of violence; cuts, wounds, and bruises; exposure to steam (burns and scalds); exposure to carbon dioxide and other gases.
13. Tanner Exposure to chemicals (chemical poisoning); sharp instruments; respiratory diseases; slippery and wet floors (falls); drowning and scalds in unfenced/unguarded vats.
14. Blacksmith, Hammersmith, Forgeman Exposure to extreme heat; flying sparks and hot metal objects; accidents; eye injuries; heat stress; burns and scalds.
15. Slaughtering and Killing Large Cattle (Carabao, cow, horses) Injuries from cuts, burns, falls, dangerous eqpt.; exposure to infectious diseases; heat stress
16. Extraction of lard and oil Accidents (falls or slips due to slippery floor, being caught in the machines); exposure to extreme heat; exposure to chemicals (chemical burns); fire and explosion hazard (hydrogen gas)
